Gastrointestinal Tract Histology

Medium:

Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator

Size:

24" x 18"

Description:

This poster depicts the histological anatomy of the gastrointestinal tract for display in an undergraduate anatomy or histology lab. The poster describes the four layers of the GI tract from the esophagus to the colon, highlighting the distinct and similar features of each region. The use of color mimics that of H&E stain to best relate to what students observe in the microscope (i.e., pinks and purples).

The intended objectives are to:

• Show the similarities and differences between areas of the gastrointestinal tract
• Juxtapose the different areas side by side to see how the layers continue through each area

• Help students identify different regions based on distinct features
• Aid students' comprehension of GI tract histology as seen in the microscope for their labs and practicals
